DSP/BIOS by Degrees: Using DSP/BIOS (CC Studio 2.0) in Existing Application (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
DSP/BIOS™ provides a complete set of instrumented kernel services optimized for fast execution speed and small size for use with Texas Instruments digital signal processors. DSP/ BIOS is instrumented to provide real time analysis of software executing on TI DSPs. DSP/ BIOS is included in Code Composer Studio? along with the editor compiler project manager and debugger. This introduces a r

Adding Hysteresis to Low Battery Input on the TPS6205x (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
The low-battery input (LBI) available on several step-down converters is often used to shut down the converter when the input voltage falls below a set threshold. This prevents damage to the battery and signals that the battery is at the end of its life and should be charged or replaced. Batteries have internal resistance that causes the voltage to drop as the load increases. This internal resis

Wireless Sensor Monitor Using the eZ430-RF2500 (Rev. D)

Texas Instruments
This application report documents the wireless temperature-sensor network demonstration application provided with the eZ430-RF2500 development tool. The application uses Texas Instruments SimpliciTI™ wireless communication protocol to set up a simple network in which end devices communicate sampled temperature and voltage data to a network access point. The access point communicates all collected

TRF372017 Noise Analysis (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This report provides information about the experimental set-up and measurements carried out with the TRF372017 evaluation module (TRF370217EVM) to determine the output noise at the RF port of Texas Instruments' TRF372017 integrated IQ modulator device. The significance of using low-pass baseband and RF bandpass filters along with the modulator noise floor estimation obtained from the output noise

U-140 Average Current Mode Control of Switching Power Supplies

Texas Instruments
Current-mode control as usually implemented in switching power supplies actually senses and controls peak inductor current. This process causes many serious problems including poor noise immunity a need for slope compensation and peak-to-average current errors that the inherently low current-loop gain cannot correct. Average current-mode control eliminates these problems and may be used effec

PGA900 DAC Output Stability Application Note

Texas Instruments
Capacitive load drive is one of the most common causes of operational amplifier stability issues. The load capacitance CL interacts with the open-loop output impedance of the amplifier ZO by adding a single or double pole in the open-loop response. The additional pole or poles degrades the circuit phase margin resulting in transient overshoot and ringing ac gain peaking

Understanding Data Converters

Texas Instruments
This document discusses data converter specifications as defined on a manufacturing data sheet and considers some aspects of designing with data conversion products. The sources of error that change the device characteristics from an ideal function to reality are shown with illustration of their characteristic curves. A brief description of the TLC04 anti-aliasing Butterworth filter is provided.

Supporting External DMA Activity to Internal RAM for TMS320C5x

Texas Instruments
This document discusses how to use the DMA capability of TMS320C5x devices with the thin-quad-flat package. The problem is that when moving to the small outline and footprint of the thin-quad-flat package (TQFP) for TMS320C5x devices some functionality is removed to reduce pin count. This move from the 132-pin quad-flat package (PQ package) to the 100-pin TQFP (PZ package) removes two functiona

Thermo-Electric Cooler Control Using a TMS320F2812 DSP & DRV592 Power Amplifier

Texas Instruments

This application report presents a thermoelectric cooler system consisting of a Texas Instruments TMS320F2812 digital signal processor (DSP) and DRV592 power amplifier. The DSP implements a digital proportional-integral-derivative feedback controller using an integrated 12-bit analog-to-digital converter to read the thermistor, and direct output of pulse-width-modulated waveforms to the H-bridge DRV592 power amplifier. The system presented provides up to 6.1 watts of heating or cooling to the laser mount, although the DRV592 amplifier is actually capable of delivering up to 15 watts when configured appropriately. The closed-loop TEC system is seen to achieve ±0.0006°C temperature accuracy, depending on the needed operating temperature range, with a step response settling time of 14 to 16 seconds. A complete description of the experimental system, along with software and software operating instructions, are provided.

TMS320C6000 System Clock Circuit Example (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This document describes how to provide the Texas Instruments TMS320C6000™ DSP with a system clock. All of the clocks internal to the C6000™ are generated from a single source through the CLKIN pin. This source clock for the device is an external signal that depending on the clock mode either drives the on-chip Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) circuit which multiplies the source clock in freq

TMS320DM6467 Universal Serial Bus Upstream Device Compliance Testing

Texas Instruments
This application report describes the TMS320DM6467 electrical compliance of a high-speed (HS) universal serial bus (USB) operation conforming to the USB 2.0 specification. The non-OTG controller supports the USB 2.0 device-mode operation at HS and FS full-speed (FS) and the USB 2.0 host-mode operation at HS FS and low-speed (LS).
