Hardware auto-identification&software auto-configuration for the TLV320AIC10 DSP Codec - a "plug-and-play" algorithm

Texas Instruments

The analog interface circuit (AIC), also called a modem Codec, is a complete data acquisition system on a chip for general-purpose telephony/speech applications such as: modem analog interface, voice-band audio processing, noise cancellation/suppression, hands-free communication, security voice systems, tone generation, echo cancellation, voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP), and industrial process control. The AIC is normally interfaced to a digital signal processor (DSP). This approach has a number of advantages and cost-saving benefits that cannot be realized with traditional Codec analog interfacing. The benefits include:

  • lower cost,
  • simple interface design and fewer components,
  • greater system reliability due to fewer components,
  • lower power consumption,
  • higher performance, and
  • high programmability.

U-120 A Simplified Approach to DC Motor Modeling for Dynamic Stability Analysis

Texas Instruments
When we say that an electric motor is a device that transforms electric power into mechanical power we say two things. First that the motor is ?and behaves as ?a transformer. Second that it stands at the dividing line between electrical and mechanical phenomena. In the case of permanent magnet motors this power transformation works in both directions so that the electrical impedance depends on

Wideband Complementary Current Output DAC Single-Ended Interface

Texas Instruments
High-speed digital-to-analog converters (DACs) most often use a transformer-coupled output stage. In applications where this configuration is not practical, a single op amp differential to single-end

Converting Code from the TMS320C5x DSP to the TMS320C2xx DSP

Texas Instruments
With the introduction of the TMS320C2xx (C2xx) family of low-cost digital signal processors (DSPs) many customers are discovering that they can utilize this DSP family for designs that previously required the processing power of a TMS320C5x (C5x) DSP. Although some code has been written for the C2xx reuse of the large repository of C5x application code can dramatically speed up designs using the

LVDS Repeaters and Crosspoints Extend the Reach of FPD-Link II Interfaces (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This application note introduces Texas Instrument’s LVDS devices with built-in pre-emphasis andequalization circuits recommends when it makes sense to employ them with the FPD-Link II SER/DESshows how to optimally interface them to the SER/DES and discusses distance gains that may berealized with their signal enhancing functions.

TMS320C6416 Coprocessors and Bit Error Rates

Texas Instruments
The turbo and viterbi coprocessors (TCP/VCP) are programmable peripherals used to decode IS2000/3GPP turbo/viterbi codes. They are integrated into Texas Instruments TMS320C6416 digital signal processor (DSP). Turbo and viterbi decoders lie at the heart of all of the third-generation (3G) wireless standards. Their usage in 3G systems meets the tough bit-error-rate requirements and low signal-to-no

Texas Instruments
This application report is a general guide for using LVCMOS inputs to the CDCM6100x series of ultra-low jitter clock generators from Texas Instruments. This document explains the basic connectivity of LVCMOS inputs to the CDCM6100x and recommends several methods for using the device that ensure proper operation.

AN-1803 Design Considerations for a Transimpedance Amplifier (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
It is challenging to design a good current-to-voltage (transimpedance) converter using a voltage-feedbackamplifier (VFA). By definition a photodiode produces either a current or voltage output from exposure tolight. The transimpedance amplifier (TIA) is utilized to convert this low-level current to a usable voltagesignal and the TIA often needs to be compensated for proper operation. This a
