Texas Instruments
The purpose of this application report is to describe in concise detail the 16-channel high-frequency (HF) (13.56 MHz) RFID Reader System (based on the TRF7960A RFID IC) designed by Texas Instruments for customer use. The system hardware is comprised of one (1) RFID controller board and four (4) antenna boards along with their associated cables (power RF GPIO and host communication). The syste

Interfacing TI Clocked FIFOs With TI Floating-Point DSPs (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
FIFO memories are used in digital signal processing systems for matching data paths with asynchronous clock or data rates. This document shows the SN74ACT3632 512?36?2 clocked FIFO as a single-chip bi-directional buffering solution that interfaces to the TI TMS320C3x and TMS320C4x floating-point DSP family. Programmable FIFO flags enable DMA control techniques that are used to handle the data flow

Texas Instruments
This application report discusses some of the functionality of the General Extension Language (GEL) that is supported by and included with Code Composer Studio? integrated development environment (IDE) v2.1. Features that will be outlined are automated testing with GEL workspace customization and common Code Composer Studio tool usage such as File I/O. In addition the new GEL application progra

Apply TI TSC for Various and Multiple Functions

Texas Instruments
This application report presents several examples showing how a touch screen controller (TSC) from Texas Instruments provides a variety of functions such as graphs scroll bars pressure buttons and analog dials. A simple resistive TSC can be used to achieve all of these functions as long as they are not activated simultaneously. This application report demonstrates a few simple examples how th

Clocking Design Guidelines: Unused Pins

Texas Instruments

Although every effort is made to provide detailed information in product data sheets to inform the design engineer of the expected performance and assist in the proper application of the device, it is unlikely that every question will be anticipated. An example of this situation is the topic of unused pins. If after reviewing the capabilities of a part, it been determined that a certain feature of a device is not needed, then it is likely there will be remaining unused pins. The design engineer will want to know what the recommendation is for these unused pins. Should they be left open, tied to ground, or pulled high? This paper reviews why these are important questions and uses actual customer questions handled by the TI applications staff as examples.

Avoiding Phantom Interrupts on the TMS4701Rx Central Interrupt Module

Texas Instruments
This application report describes the ways that phantom interrupts can occur on a TMS470R1x device and how to avoid them.

Reducing Analog Input Noise in Touch Screen Systems (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This application report discusses some common methods for reducing noise in the analog input circuitry of a resistive touch screen controller. In terms of hardware design PCB layout and grounding are critical; the additional noise-decoupling capacitor built into a touch screen controller input pin may also help. On the software side several simple widely-applied filtering algorithms are present

How to Apply 1.8-V Signals to 3.3-V CDCLVC11xx Fanout Clock Buffer

Texas Instruments
The CDCLVC11xx buffer family from Texas Instruments has a nominal voltage supply of 2.5 V and 3.3 V. With the simple employment of an external RC network this family of devices can handle incoming signals whose voltage levels go up to 1.8 V. This application report explains how to implement this network and dimension its discrete components without impacting the specifications of additive ji

HC5503PRC SLIC and the Texas Instruments TP3057A Combined PCM Codec and Filter

Texas Instruments
The network requirements of many countries require the analog subscriber line circuit (SLIC) to terminate the subscriber line with an impedance for voiceband frequencies which is complex rather than resistive (e.g. 600 Ohms). This requires that the physical resistance that is situated between the SLIC and the subscriber line comprised of protection and/or sensing resistors and the output resist
