Picking ESD Diodes for Ultra High-Speed Data Lines

Texas Instruments

This application report addresses three key criteria for selecting an ESD device for protecting high-speed signals. As the industry continues to trend towards smaller chipset features sizes to address higher speed data rates, tolerance of transient voltages has continued to shrink as well. Picking the right ESD device the first time is critical to preventing costly board re-spins during EMC testing. By using the three techniques discussed in this paper, device selection can be greatly simplified and streamlined.

AB-170: Ultrasound Processor Supplementary Material

Texas Instruments
An ultrasound system employs a multichannel phased array of acoustic elements to form an image. Previous implementation of this function has used bipolar technology. 0.5u CMOS technology has the advantage of lowering the cost and increasing functionality compared to using bipolar technology.

How to Use High-Speed RTDX Effectively

Texas Instruments
This application report familiarizes the reader with high-speed RTDX (HSRTDX). It is assumed that the reader already has a working knowledge of RTDX. This application report covers the HSRTDX target architecture HSRTDX target application integration HSRTDX performance hints and a discussion on HSRTDX application intrusion. This application report does not cover RTDX basics. See the on-line help

Interfacing the DAC7631 to the MSP430F449

Texas Instruments
This application report describes how to interface the DAC7631 digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to the MSP430F449 mixed signal microcontroller.

Automatic Gain Control (AGC) Using the Diamond Transistor OPA660

Texas Instruments
Multiplication of analog signals has long been one of the most important nonlinear functions of analog circuit technology. Many signal sources however such as CCD sensors pin diodes or antennas deliver weak oscillating and simultaneously wide-band signals. But now a new multiplication method is available. Used as a wide-bandwidth Automatic Gain Control (AGC) application circuit the integra

Texas Instruments
This document discusses the power consumption of the Texas Instruments TMS320TCI6486 digital signal processor (DSP). The power consumption on the TMS320TCI6486 device is highly application-dependent;

Real-time DSP Sftware Dsgn for Portable MP3 Player on TMS320C54x Using DSP/BIOS

Texas Instruments
As real-time digital signal processing (DSP) systems become more complicated with multiple threads of execution and faster DSPs software development and debugging becomes more complicated. An MP3 player is a good example of a multi-threaded system that executes not only DSP-type (data) threads such as MP3 decoding sample rate conversion and graphic equalization but it also runs typical ?host/c

General Guide to Implement Logarithmic and Exponential Operations on Fixed-Point

Texas Instruments
Modern audio and video compression algorithms usually take the advantage of logarithmic characteristics of human ears and eyes. This approach greatly reduces the redundancy in signals being processed. However it poses a requirement on fixed-point DSPs to handle these logarithmic and exponential operations. This application report provides a general guide to implement these operations on fixed-

Low Power Input and Reference Driver Circuit for ADS8318 and ADS8319

Texas Instruments
The one size fits all approach to operational amplifiers is not effective. Every application has its own specific requirements that must be fulfilled. Appropriate selection of the op amp that drives an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in a low-power application is a critical step. Most available low-power op amps trade off low-power features with other parameters such as bandwidth settling t
