160-A: four-phase reference design with integrated FET controller

Description

This reference design is for powering high current: low voltage ASICs and FPGAs from a 5-V or 12-V rail.  The design is optimized for high-density and supports PMBus with current: voltage and temperature telemetry: if desired.  A test report is included.

Features
  • Uses four TPS546D24A 40-A converters to create a 160-A supply with only four partsSmall double-sided design occupies one square inch each side per phaseTested cut-and-paste design for powering high-current ASIC core railsHigh speed on board dynamic load for testing to stringent dynamic load requirementsFusion Digital Power Designer GUI enables easy prototyping through PMBus and manufacturing script generation
Applications
  • Smart network interface card (NIC)
  • Active antenna system mMIMO (AAS)
  • Hardware accelerator card
  • Macro remote radio unit (RRU)
