PMP3143 uses the TPS40055 synchronous buck controller in an inverting buck boost configuration. This topology takes a positive input and generate a negative output. In this case 10V to 18V is converted to -15V at 3A. The design operates at 300KHz and uses a synchronous controller to get high output current. This type of design can be used for many applications: one example is an IGBT driver supply.
