TIDA-01557 Reference Design

Texas Instruments

>92% Efficiency: 200W: <100mW standby: fast transient: desktop PC PSU reference design

Description

This reference design is a compact: high efficiency: fast transient: universal input: 12-V DC: 200-W nominal output: AC/DC power supply (PSU) targeted for desktop PCs and gaming adapters. The TIDA-01557 circuit consists of a front-end transition-mode (TrM) power factor correction (PFC) circuit based on the UCC28056: followed by an LLC stage for isolated DC/DC conversion based on UCC256301. For high efficiency needs: synchronous rectification is done using the UCC24612-2 synchronous rectifier controller and low RDS (on) MOSFETs CSD18511. This design does not need additional auxiliary power supply for meeting no-load and light-load specifications. The design can be used as an AC/DC power supply in applications that demand efficient power conversion and fast transient response.

Features
  • Peak overall efficiency of 92.5% at 230-V AC and 90.5% at 115-V AC: fan cooling needed up to 55 °C ambient operationHigh power factor > 0.96 at 230-V AC from 50% to 100% load meets PFC regulations and current THD as per IEC 61000-3-2 Class DVery low no load power consumption of Light load efficiency of >50% at 0.25W; > 79% at 2W; >81% at 4WSingle-Layer: CEM-1 material PCB design to achieve low cost; small PCB (70 x 125 x 35 mm) fits in both SFX12 and gaming adapter form-factorLeading transient performance with half duty cycle response for line transient and dynamic load
